Pancho's Backyard

Cozumel. Where we dock has restaurants, bars, shops and a tiny man made beach, all right off the beach. The port area is called Puerta Maya. You can lave easily...get a cab, walk, rent a scooter, take a tour. But more often than not I walk off the ship, plunk my ass on a seat in a restaurant and stay a while.

Hard to believe many cruisers only ever do that. Can you believe they say "I've been to Mexico"? When you get off the ship, walk into the custom built port and never leave, you have not been to Mexico, or whatever country we are visiting. Don't fool yourself.

 

Rant over. For most part I like to get out and explore. This contract I feel like I haven't given Cozumel a chance. We come 3 times a fortnight, we dock all day. There is much to see and do and many, many beaches to relax at. But I've done exactly what our guests do. Never left the port.

 

This time round I've been parking my ass at Pancho's Backyard. A restaurant right in the port area. Ocean views. Cheap food. Cold beer. Crappy wifi. Pretty decor. And my lazy self.

 

I'd like to decorate my non existent house with hanging stars. They look so cool lit at night.

 

It is a good place to while away the day. To read or people watch.

 

Enchiladas verdes, tamales or Tacitos con pollo are my favourite food groups. Margaritas or Bohmia beer my choice of libation.

 

And don't forget the Margarita pie.
