August 13th to 19th
13th Galveston. I had to go out in Galveston before loading and pick up some packages from the Seafarer's centre for our manager who signed off today. The day you sign off, you have no crew ID as you've already handed it back and you have no passport until you go through immigration. Once you finish immigration you get on the crew bus to go to the airport. So the manager wouldn't be able to pick up his packages. By the time I got back to the ship the pallets had only just been loaded onto the ship, so I didn't miss much. We only 11 pallets for loading, the least we've had all contract. I didn't go out in Galveston afterwards. Just slept.
Our new manager signed on this afternoon. I've worked with Jacob previously on Imagination. We went for "one" drink in the crew bar after work and caught up on news.
14th Sea Day. Long slow day. Where are all the guests?
15th Cozumel. For three days I'd been thinking I felt unbelievably tired and achy. I guess today my body agrees with me. I didn't wake up until 4pm!!!! I have not slept that long in ages. I'm sad I didn't get off in Cozumel but I feel heaps better.
My team has tonight off. We had to go in for opening and the Bella Perlina sale. Then we were done. I had dinner in the staff mess, then retired to my cabin to watch the Olympics - some track and field, gymnastics, diving...
Drinks in crew bar before the crew party in the Cabinet bar. This months theme was glow party. You know... With those necklaces, bracelets and rings that glow in the dark...Glow Party. Crew like to drink a lot, dance a lot, laugh a lot. And we did all three.
16th Progreso. Slept. Again. Didn't even read or watch telly. Just slept.
17th Sea Day
18th Galveston. No loading. Had coffee and a slice at Mods coffee house I Galveston and used their internet to pay some bills.
Then found the Galveston Bookshop, a nondescript building that I've probably walked by many times. I promptly spent $40.00.
I was on preorders this week so I started early.
19th Sea Day. Happy Birthday Mum!!!
