Hubby and I took an extended long weekend over the July 1st and July 4th holidays. Every summer we've talked about camping on the Oregon Coast and every summer we do something else. Last July 1st and 4th we actually put our words into action and again this year.
McMinnville is not actually on the Oregon coast, it's inland. But it was one of our stops.
There's lots of room for transient parking, with tie downs provided. We weren't charged a parking or landing fee for the time we were there. We didn't park overnight, just for a few hours. I think there is probably a fee if you park overnight.
The FBO is Cirrus Aviation. They have a small building with basic facilities that are available during opening hours. They also sell pop, chocolate bars, and cookies. Coffee is by donation. There is no restaurant or cafe, so don't arrive hungry. Opening hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, 7 days a week. Phone # is 503-472-0558
The bathrooms are on the end of the building so are open 24 hours should you need them. They were clean and well stocked with toilet paper and soap. No showers.
Cirrus Aviation have fuel available, either self serve or truck. If you'd like to tour the area Cirrus has a couple of courtesy cars. They are about $20.00 for the day and we've heard that they will waive the fees for the car if you buy fuel for your plane. One of the cars is an old black and white police cruiser.
There was lot's of flat green grass that would be perfect for camping. During the annual fly-in camping is allowed but we have yet to find out if camping under the wing is allowed outside of that.
