The Vancouver Tourism Challenge is hosted by the Vancouver Attractions Group, the Hotel Association of Vancouver and Tourism Vancouver.
Hosted annually, the challenge is open to the employees and volunteers of the 120 tourism industry partners. It's to encourage tourism professionals to familiarize and/or educate themselves about all that Vancouver has to offer.
Because I now work for Rocky Mountaineer I get to participate in the challenge this year. The idea is I take my passport to the various attractions, hotels and other tourism partners in and around Vancouver between April 16th and May 31st. After experiencing the attractions my passport gets stamped.
At the end of the May I hand in my passport (with a minion of 15 stamps) and in exchange I receive a privilege pass, giving me 11 months of admissions, dining offers and other bonuses from the tourism partners.
Also if I get 15, 25 or 35 stamps my name goes in a draw for different prize packages.
Last week while I was training downtown I was able to visit some of the "other" tourism partners that were nearby. Vancouver Convention Centre, Tourism Vancouver and BC Ferries Vacations - done.
Each office had some small challenge that I needed to complete first before getting my passport stamped. They were quick and easy, mainly requiring some sort of interaction with the staff or a trivia quiz.
I don't know that I'll get 35 stamps, but I'm hoping I'll get the 15.
