Didn't take anywhere near as long as "Please expect to spend most of the day with us."
I arrived about 8:45am and checked in. Luckily I brought everything with me as instructed in yesterdays email - copy of my resume, candidate information sheet, application form, professional references and a photo - so the check in went quickly.
Tea, coffee, cold water, muffins, danishes, and cookies were all supplied. I'd already eaten so just grabbed a water, stuck my name tag on and mingled. There were approximately 50 applicants there. It was a really large group!
The management team introduced themselves and we watched a quick video about the company. Next up was an ice breaker exercise. Chat with the person beside you and get to know them. Then you get to introduce them to the group. I was picked on first. Maybe because I was the only person not wearing all black. I need to learn to blend in more. You know the management team is also checking us out. Noticing how we interact with others, how we handle speaking in front a large group.
After that we were broken into groups of 5 for group interviews. 5 applicants and 3 interviewers. We were each given one scenario and asked to role play our handling of the situation with one of the interviewers as the guest.
30 seconds. 30 seconds to leave one final impression. 30 seconds to convince the interviewers that they should hire us.
I was in first group of 5 to be interviewed. We were free to leave after that. I was done by 10:30am. I was worried about being first up, but I think that was preferable to waiting round until 2:30, which is when the last group of 5 would be interviewed.
I think it went well. I hope to hear soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Hubby was working downtown. Andrea C started a new job yesterday. We haven't seen Andrea since before Christmas. We met for lunch at Steamworks to catch up, dissect my inteview and hear about Andrea's new job.
