Today was another one of those days that didn't quite go as planned. The Vancouver Christmas Market opened should have opened today. I was going to meet Andrea there at noon.
Unfortunately right before the market opened a propane tank exploded in one of the booths. 6 of the booths were damaged, but no one was injured. The market will now open next week.
I was already downtown, the first West Coast Express wasn't for another couple of hours, and hubby who was working downtown was still a few hours from being done.
So I did something I've planned to do every Christmas for the last couple of years, but never actually done. I went to see the matinee performance of It's a Wonderful Life at the Granville Island Stage. I love the movie, I love live theatre and all matinee tickets are $29.00. It was a really good way to fill in a really cold afternoon.
Clips from the movie were used as a backdrop, which I think was a great idea. This stage show differs from the movie a little. But not in a bad way. In the movie, Clarence doesn't appear until the last third or so of the movie, but in the Arts Club production Clarence is there right from the beginning. The sets and the costuming were awesome. I'd see it again next year. It'd be a great date night or girls night out. Dinner at Granville Island, theatre, drinks afterwards...
