One: Every summer in Vancouver the city hosts The Celebration of Light.
It's held over 4 nights. The first 3 nights a different country presents, and the 4th night is the finale. They announce the winner and all 3 countries showcase their best.
We went to the first night, Canada with hubby's parents and family friends. They brought their boat over from the Island. We had dinner on the boat - wasabi prawns, asparagus, cheese, lemon artichoke tapenade to start.
Steaks with blue cheese coleslaw, cornbread, devilled eggs and potato salad. We contributed the blue cheese coleslaw and cornbread courtesy of recipes from Memphis Blue's new BBQ cookbook.
We finished up with lemon meringue kisses and lemon curd made by Barb.
Then we settled in to watch the fireworks. Canada's theme was Attack, I didn't think much of the music, but the fireworks were awesome and the synchronisation between the fireworks and the music was amazing.
Two:
The neighbour's little miss 4 came to visit one evening and played with her first sparklers.
Three (and four):
We flew over the last 2 nights of the fireworks. The theme for China was Power of the Dream representing human power at the Olympics. I prefered China's music, but Canada's fireworks. The last night we saw the finale. It's certainly a different perspective looking down on the fireworks rather than looking up at them. I enjoy both.
