To finish out my birthday month, we had tickets to the Cirque du Soleil performance of Saltimbanco in Victoria.
Luckily the weather co-operated, Hubby was able to fly us over to the Island to stay at his parents, as opposed to the 3-4 hour drive and ferry ride. Rather than just go for the show we made a weekend of it.
The show started at 7pm on Saturday evening, so we left his parents around 11am for the 45 min drive. Why so early? Surely traffic is not that bad?
Well, we couldn't just drive directly there. We had to make a few stops.

And dinner at Ferris Grill. I enjoyed the house salad of lettuce, cucumber, sunflower sprouts, carrots, chickpeas, tomato, and toasted sunflower seeds with a creamy lemon feta dressing. I topped it off with Tinhorn Creek Gerwertztraminer and cheesecake. Very satisfying.
The show? We have been lucky enough (or spoiled) to see several different Cirque du Soleil shows. This one, Saltimbanco, was not my favourite. It had too many filler bits, and the music didn't wow me. In fact I remember more of what I didn't like rather than what I did like. Don't get me wrong, it was still good. And the power, strength, control, agility, talent, and dedication of the performers/artists continues to amaze me. It just didn't entrance me as previous shows have done.
