After making Shazza and Kath traipse through the muddy pumpkin patch in their good boots I was not the most popular person. Oh well. Suck it up.
But we had fun carving the pumpkins. The best part was sticking our hands in to pull out the slimy innards. Oh and Dave laughing at our lack of prowess with the knife. He stood well back out of the way of any perceived danger.
It didn't take long to carve our little friendly faces. We set them up at the front door, where the trick or treaters proceeded to make fun of our flat top jack o lanterns.
The house was decorated, pumpkins were carved, trick or treaters have been and gone, fireworks were oohed and aahed at, pumpkin pie was eaten and now we are finishing off Halloween by watching The Corpse Bride. Gotta love Tim Burton.
Dave took us all to the shooting range. Sharyn and Kath had never fired a gun before, let alone shot at pumpkins.
Just our luck the range was out of pumpkins. I had to make a quick run to the grocery store for 3 small innocent looking pumpkins.
But before we started in on the little orange balls we put a few holes in a zombie and said Goodbye Kitty.
Then it was time to make the pumpkins puke their insides out. Dave's words, not mine! The first one didn't last long, Kath managed to shoot it of it's stem and it fell to the ground with a great big splat.
The second one lasted longer and we managed to shoot the holy heck out of it. Dave then shot the bottom half right off!
The third pumpkin pretty much fell of it's stalk, it was a little heavy. Then we put a few more rounds in Kitty, and tried for actual accuracy and bullseyes on a regular target. Dave was by far the most accurate and successful, but Shazza wasn't far behind.
We didn't wear costumes. We had about a dozen trick or treaters. There is a ton of candy left. Hubby can take it to the hangar, or at least hide it from me. Watched the fireworks provided by the local business association and the Katzie Nation.
Instead of a costume this was my contribution to the Halloween spirit:
Halloween necklace - a ghost, Jack o' Lantern and witch to wear with my skull earrings.
and a t-shirt from Old Navy that cost under $3.00.
