Each week a certain percentage of the crew are assigned to port manning. That means the port manning team cannot get off the ship when we dock. They have to stay on board the ship in case there is an emergency.
This week myself and two other people from the gift ship are part of the port manning team. We don't have to do anything or be anywhere in particular we just have to be on the ship and ready and available just in case.
Natalia and I decided we should spend all day in our cabins we should still enjoy the day. We slept in, I did a load of laundry and then we met for lunch up on deck rather than in the staff mess. After lunch we spent the afternoon in Serenity.
Serenity is the adult only area of the ship on deck 12. No kids allowed. It's nice and quiet. Most of the guests were off the ship in St Thomas, so it was extra quiet for the first two hours we were up there.
We had our pick of the loungers, the chairs, etc. We chose a big double hammock overlooking Charlotte Amalie. We alternated between laying in the hammock and reading, soaking in the jacuzzi and cooling off in the outdoor shower.
Not a bad way to spend the day before we go to work this evening.
