Texada Island Fly-In

Texada_fly_in_poster

What do you do on a hot and sunny, clear weekend?  Hubby and I?  We go flying.  But you already knew that.  This time we loaded up three planes.  Yup, three planes - there were 8 of us.  Dave, Kim, Joanna and Little Miss 4 in our plane.  Fred, Joanne and I in Fred's plane.  And Fraser in his plane.

We arrived on Texada Island late Saturday afternoon and set up the tents under the wings.

Dinner was beef, chicken or pork kebabs, potato salad, greek salad and wine.

Followed by chocolate chip banana cake and marshmallows toasted on the camp stove.  It was too hot and dry for a campfire.

Sunday dawned hot and sunny.  Finally it looks like summer is here to stay.  It took long enough.  Sunday was the official Texada Island Fly-In.  So, what do you do at a fly-in?

Start with a pancake Breakfast.

Hanging out in the tent - it was Little Miss 4's first camping trip.

An aerial demonstration by the Fraser Blues, the Cormorant, and lots of other planes.

A game of memory in the shade, a game of frisbee - Little Miss 4 throws and catches better than I can!

A BBQ lunch.

Taking lots of photos and videos.

And a walk to the beach to cool off.

And a nap on the flight home.

July_08_098 The airport on Texada Island - we camped on the far left of the runway.
